2001 BMW z3 for 13,000$ fair? Bluebook says 9900$!?

I have my heart set on getting a BMW z3 (not z4)- and found a used one at a reputable dealer with 40,000 miles on it (LOW) (2001 z3 3.0) listed at 13,000$- this seems to be the price most similar z3's are listed as.

However, bluebook says considering all the details of the car (age, condition, mileage, even the wheels) that the retail price should be about 9900$. In the 4 months of been looking for a z3, they all seem to be listed 30-40% higher than their supposed bluebook value, and the dealerships are truly not interested in getting too far below their asking price.

It's been explained to me that certain cars (like z3, Honda Del Sol, Mazda Miada) become discontinued, and therefore the true value is always above the supposed true market value of bluebook.

Is this BS????

I'm planning a test drive of this car in a couple days, and I'm fine paying whats fair for the car- if that is a fair price.

The car is automatic, V6, 3.0, charcoal, black leather interior, sports package, good-perfect condition, clean title, good history, never sat for years- just a weekend driver based on the detailed carfax I've seen.|||a fair price is how much you like the car, if you think you can get a better z3 for less money and is not in a rush then maybe you should wait, then again that z3 might be in much better condition then the next z3 that you will find.|||Compare prices at edmunds.com and nadaguides.com both will give you wholesale, trade in, and the average retail price. I always start from the low end. Z3's have come down in price in the last year. Checkout z3ers.com there is a whole section on buying a used Z3. Good Luck!

|||If you really like the car get it. The kbb is just a guide, and prices can vary by region and demand. A Z3 like that is going to be hard to find with that low mileage that is the reason for the price, and it is very well optioned. If you need more prove, look at the z3's listed in your region on autotrader, and compare prices, mileage, color, options etc to find the right car for you.
